Snow Day!

'Twas a magical day, free of classes, when the City was blanketed in white

so I headed through campus

past block after block of hibernating flora

to encounter an old friend

in Narnia (otherwise known as Central Park West)!

Bundled toddlers everywhere, like miniature Michelin men, ran amok, building snowmen and sledding down the snow-covered steps.

I, myself, was bundled, but as a rather techinicolor anomaly in this grayscale world.

Why does everyone dress in such dreary hues on days like this? I think a touch of color definitely brightens up the day!

I'm glad to share that my very first official snow day was a success, albeit utterly and lazily unproductive!

Learning

I don't normally write about school, simply because it'd probably bore you, but at the same time, what am I in New York for? You were bound to hear about it sooner or later.

I learned that you don't walk into a room, ready to provide services for your patient. Even after class upon class, instilling in us information and research about cognitive-developmental deficits, the one thing that rings most true is the fact that each patient is a unique and individual case. No one's ever a textbook example.

Even after days of poring over my client's chart -- developmental & medical history, parent reports, teacher reports... you name it, I read it -- I was in no way prepared to not understand a single word of his language production. Shocked is an understatement.

But this is why he's seeing me, right? Praise God for these learning experiences in school while I have a clinical supervisor to guide me!
