Strange men & carrots

Yesterday, Jess and I were sitting in the Carl's Jr on campus working on our audiology homework. I have on the table next to me my small tupperware container of baby carrots and grape tomatoes, which serves to help me refrain from buying food on campus in between classes. I'm scribbling away at my audiogram analyses, and when Jess goes to the counter to pick up her order, a man of about thirty or forty approaches me and the following conversation ensues:

man: you know you can have too much of those, right?
me: excuse me?
man: (gestures at carrots) you think you got enough there?
me: (confused) *i think he's asking for some carrots?* ...yeah sure, would you like some?
man: nah i'm just kidding.
me: (doesn't get it) oh, haha...
man: no but seriously, is that the only thing you eat?
me: (feeling really awkward) no, it's just a snack
man: (laughs, but still stands there over my table)
*awkward silence*
me: so uhm... would you like a carrot?
man: no i'm just making sure you eat other things
me: oh okay. thanks. i do.
man: good. those can be poisonous if you don't. have a good day
me: you too...

I realized when he left that he was probably referring to vitamin A toxicity, but still! Who approaches complete strangers to tell them that they're eating too many carrots?

Wanted: Delightful Shroommates!

Life has been dandy as of late; school, work, church, & lunch dates sum up the gist of it. Today was highlighted with a charming tea party at American Girl. Perhaps the rest of the pictures shall come later!

There hasn't been much time for sewing in the schedule of this girl-student-teacher-sister-friend, but I've managed to crank out a couple of projects, coincidentally both falling under the category of friendly & colorful fungus.

The first is a gift for my wonderful boyfriend, and is reminiscent of his favorite past-time whilst growing up. Some may find this a familiar iconic "1-up", better known to Matthew & Elaine as shRoomie!

Made of comfy felt in the vibrant shade of kelly green, "shRoomie" arrived in San Jose late Friday night, accompanied by the following greeting & instruction card,

and, although he hasn't said it to me, personally, I believe he is happy to join Matt's & my little family of (now) five. Meet our kids:

The next creative endeavor of mine was also a mushroom, but one more whimsical, in the form of a pincushion for my dear Helen:

So, that about wraps up the crafty endeavors as of late! Stay tuned for more to come! It's now time for bed, as this girl has some waking-up-at-five-a.m. to do tomorrow morning. Toodles, friends!
